After a midweek 6 goal thriller in Winslow on Tuesday, Tring followed up with a 7 goal sequel at Dunstable in The FA Vase on Saturday.
It was a thunderous start, literally with thunder and a heavy downpour delaying the kick off by a few minutes and then a goal
in the first minute for the hosts. Dan was unable to hold onto a speculative shot and the Dunstable number 10 followed up to put away the rebound.
Then followed 10 minutes of solid Tring pressure with 2 good chances over the bar from Frankie and Bailey and a flick on from Harrison which Benji could only direct at the keeper.
Although the sun had now come out, a storm gathered over Tring as the failure to clear a corner allowed Dunstable to bundle the ball into the net from a goal mouth scramble. 2-0 down in a flash, and the sizeable Tring support were feeling under the weather.
Shortly afterwards Adam spared further damage by clearing off the line when it looked certain Dunstable would go 3 up.
Half time was clearly pivotal, with the manager and coaches giving a stern talking to the team, changing formation and bringing on 2 subs.
The 2nd half started just like first with goal in first minute, but this time to us, with Shep heading in a fine cross at the back post.
5 mins later Shep converted from a clever and quickly worked corner with a low drive great finish.
Tring were clearly on top with both James and Mason having a big impact down the left and in midfield. A screamer from Frankie was close and hit the top of the net.
On 63 mins whilst 2 Dunstable players were arguing with each other and the referee over the award of free kick, Tring took it quickly setting up Shep to cut in from the right and fire home a great shot to complete his hatrick.
Shep sustained an injury shortly after and was replaced by Mal who made several driving runs into the Dunstable defence as Tring continued to dominate.
Tring were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute when Benji was brought down, and George slotted home for a remarkable turn around with 4 goals in 20 minutes. Dunstable were stunned, the Tring faithful delighted and still 20 minutes to go. Would more goals follow?
In the 77th minute the Dunstable keeper tipped a fine effort from Bailey onto the post and the rebound rolled agonisingly along goal line and was cleared away.
At the very end Benji, who had been a handful for the Dunstable defence all afternoon battled through several defenders in the Dunstable box to set up Bailey to score the 5th goal from close range.
Credit to the manager, coaches and players for the changes they made at half time and an excellent 2nd half performance.
Onto the first round proper!
