WE EXIT CUP
Tuesday night saw us make a midweek journey to Chalk Lane for a tough Premier Division Cup game against high flying Cockfosters. Our hosts are 2nd in the table on goal difference behind MK Irish (having played 2 games more) and the two teams meet on Saturday at Cockfosters for what should be a monumental clash.
This was our 5th cup encounter out of our last 6 games and Ryan Sturges took the opportunity to make some changes with just 4 players at kick off who were in Saturday’s starting line-up for our League game against Potton United.
This was a high energy game with plenty of good exciting football from both teams to keep the small crowd happy. Fosters opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a goal that was either world class or an overhit cross from Antonio Michael from out wide on the right wing. Our hosts doubled their lead in the 64th minute when Ryan Hervel converted a free kick from just outside the area.
Despite finding ourselves 2 nil down against a very strong side we rallied and pulled a goal back in the 75th minute through Bailey Osborne after a fine move down the left also involving Harry Beaumont and Kieran Turner.
We pushed forward to find an equaliser to take the tie to penalties but it was not too be and Cockfosters progress to Quarter Final where they will visit London Lions.
On Saturday it will be nice to get back to League action with another tough game at Harpenden Town.
