BAD DAY AT CHALK LANE
Well I don’t think anyone saw this result coming when after 34 minutes of scrappy play there had been no shots on target and both keepers had been spectators. Then out of the blue the home side got a goal and then things went from bad to worse for us when they added a second 6 minutes later leaving us with a mountain to climb.
That mountain grew to Himalayan proportions within 36 seconds of the restart of the second half when we gave the ball away and the home side couldn’t believe their luck as they broke away and scored a 3rd goal. A 4th goal arrived on the hour mark to rub a bucket load of salt onto our already sore wound.
We made some changes and despite the deficit played better and should have grabbed a goal or two but it was day when nothing went right for us and we failed to put away our chances.
Overall a very disappointing result but its early in the season and there are still a lot of games to play. We need to take this result on the chin and bounce back quickly against Baldock Town who come to Tring on Tuesday night for a Herts Charity Shield game, a cup we lifted last season.
