An incredibly sloppy 1st half display will be forgotten in time and all everyone will talk about is 44 year old Stuart Stedman's bullet header in the 33rd minute that gave Tring an undeserved lead against Chalfont. When legends return and perform greatness people sit up and take notice.
Remember Matthews in the 1953 Cup Final. Remember John McEnroe's run to the Semi Finals at Wimbledon when he was past his prime but living on his guile.
Remember Steve Davis's run to the World Snooker Semis a couple of decades ago when his trademark ginger mop had turned grey. You can now add Stuart Stedman's goal for Tring u23s v Chalfont to that list. A veritable bullet of a header from 15 yards that ricoched into the net off the post to send the Tring faithful into ecstasy.
The 2nd half saw Tring improve and get some just rewards finally. They have recently acquitted themselves admirably with little reward - but rode their luck here. Bailey Osborne missed a couple of chances - Tom Browne missed.
On 77 mins Charlie Bradshaw bust a gut in a jinking run down the right and crossed for Blake Argent to convert with aplomb.
The lads ran out 2-0 winners.
